Bio

Professor Carol Hodgson is a clinical trialist with expertise in long-term functional outcomes after critical illness. She is Co-Director of the Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre, and Head of the Division of Clinical Trials and Cohort Studies in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, and Monash University. She also leads Monash Partners Health Translation Network, which aims to ensure research is implemented and translated into healthcare to improve patient outcomes. She sits on the NHMRC Research Committee which fosters research across the spectrum of health and medical research, including the awarding of grants and providing research support. Nationally, Carol holds the top-ranked NHMRC Leadership Investigator Grant (2025-2029) to support her research improving ICU survivorship.  She has worked in ICU at Alfred Health for over 25 years as a Specialist Physiotherapist. She is passionate about supporting and mentoring early career researchers.
