Bio

Barry Williams has twenty plus years of patient and public participation in clinical trials in the UK, mainly in intensive care. He was the inaugural Chairman of the UK’s Intensive Society’s Patients’ and Relatives Committee when he initiated and contributed to a number of papers for patients’ and relatives’ guidance on intensive care. This work involved close working with the James Lind Alliance . He has additionally served on a number of NHS and the National Institute for Clinical Excellence’s working groups on matters relating to intensive care and critically ill patients. During the last decade he has been a reviewer for the NIHR on applications for funding. His background is one of hospital management both in the NHS, private sector in the UK and internationally.
